I don’t know if people here like topics about Dota, but that’s what it is) This is the section “Draft in detail”, in which we will look at the game of professional Dota two teams and analyze why a particular hero was selected or removed from the pool – from the first ban to the last pick. We will start from the losers’ grid of The international, the first map of "Team Spirit vs OG" and find out why Faceless Void was taken into the already greedy set of heroes, Morph was cut from the pool of two-time INT winners and why the choice in favor of Ember was so good.
The OGE bans Collapse of Mars and Tide, two of his three strongest heroes, the spiritists respond by banning the macaque, whose strength is partly due to the fact that all meta hardlaners are melee. And if a melee soldier comes to the line against a macaque, in most cases he will be extremely uncomfortable. Next, Wisp’s relocation from spades with a light command from Spirit, on the one hand – incomprehensible. Oji had three games on it during the tournament, of which they lost two – but on the other hand, this is respect to the Banana Noteil, he has a 70 percent win rate on it for 90 games on the pro stage, not to mention the fact that we don’t know how he showed himself on KVshki and judging by the decision of Spirit, he showed himself well.
without thinking twice, the Europeans take away the imbu of the patch, rightfully charging him higher than Magnus. To which the answer follows – the same Magnus and the wyvern, which is one of the best counter-picks of the cobblestone – and the percentage damage to the fat carcass, and the flask from physical damage, and the course for which Tiny kills any of his teammates.
Next, the OGE takes Furion – a hero who, it would seem, flexes to all 5 positions. His functions as a support before buying a shard are strong laning and early game due to powerful initial stats, and with the purchase of a shard the hero reaches his peak strength. Prophet gets a big profit from it – two additional large stumps, which increase the damage to buildings and provide him with control, which was previously counteracted by the hatchet. We also take into account the fact that he was taken after Magnus and the wyvern, who cover him like bark, which means he was definitely taken as a five and designed to dominate in the early game.
After which Terrorblade retreats at the command of the OJI team – a good carry both against Tiny due to his high armor and high farming speed, and in the current meta as a whole, then the Spirits ban Titan Knoweila, because they think that Furion can be a top three, because Saksa on Titan has 0 games in the official games, which means he won’t be taken – besides, titanium has a very high win rate on Int. But this thinking of dragons is quite reasonable – they play against OG, and you can expect anything from them.
Juggernaut spins into the sunset https://instaspincasino.uk/games/ – not the best core against Tiny, but one(one?) from the best cows for Magnus and a strong liner, which OG doesn’t want to see (why – it will become clear a little later), behind him is Templarka as a respect for the banana to Sumail, on which he was falling apart in the qualifications for the international.
Who goes where, and Kunka sails away on a ship from the general pool, like a hero, on whom Toronto has not lost a single game on the INT and who is very comfortable playing against Furion – firstly, he neutralizes the entire split push of Prophet due to the cross, secondly, he destroys stumps, thirdly, splashing on wood is not the most pleasant thing, fourthly, he is a strong liner, and lanes, as will be clear a little later, need OG must win.
This was followed by the evaporation of Morph in the CIS team’s bathhouse – a good hero against the wyvern, plus in the lane Magnus is not able to do anything to him, and freefarming Morph with aganim in Arctic Burn is incredibly strong. And even the fact that the last time OG played with the morph was almost a year ago could not get in the way
The spiritists get Lyon – the most popular and stable INT hero – and control, and prediction of the remaining illusionists, and burst, and initiation.
Time to stop and look at what strategies each team is already planning and what will guide future draft decisions. Spirits already have 2 BKB of AOE control, 8 seconds of normal and power for a melee core, which makes their draft in the late game very strong, and the OG has Furion 5ka, which loses its relevance after 25-30 minutes, and Tiny against a wyvern, which also will not be able to outfarm the enemy core in an equal game due to the presence of 2 Magnus skills in opponents.
Oji understand that they can’t get into the late game and take the tempo – Darxir and Klok, a powerful bunch of heroes – plus stumps on which they can also hang shields, which strengthens the early game of the two-time champions of int. In total, they have Darksir, who hangs serge, furion with teleport to any part of the map, and cloverk under the shield with a hookshot, which breaks the position of the wyvern and Magnus. That is, the OGs have a draft that is now completely geared towards gaining an advantage in the early game, pinning the Spirits on the high ground and ending the game due to overfarming.
The opponents of Notail’s team, on the contrary, have a greedy draft – both Lyon and Magnus need lvl and gear, in addition, Magnus himself rarely interferes with farming the enemy core. Therefore, the composition is diluted by one of the strongest heroes of the patch, combat-ready at any stage of the game, who is also excellent against the enemy’s draft. He has high mobility, such that it is impossible for enemy heroes to catch him. in which it cannot be closed, in octopuses it cannot be closed, he flies away from the wall of Darksir, Tiny does not take him, and he himself pushes away both the snail, pushing the lines with his shields, and Furion, whose stumps will happily trigger Maelstorm.
Then Naix is banned, because he is very good against the OG draft – he devours Clockwerk, devours Tiny, devours Darksir, in general – a perfect hit, and Ursa – another perfect ban, because he is a strong and not greedy laner under empowerment against fat heroes, whom the bear loves more than honey. To which our guys respond by banning Downbreaker – they understand what the OG draft is aimed at, and they remove Downbreaker, who fits perfectly into it – one of the strongest laners, capable of connecting to any fight, and remove Invoker Topsona out of respect for his signature and because the hero is good in the lane against Spirit and does not allow him to play with a shield due to the built-in dispel.
Og complements their strategy with Void Spirit – together with Clockwerk, he gets to the wyvern that interferes with Tiny’s play, is a strong meta laner, and is also mobile and capable of catching heroes – an excellent detail in the mechanism of the planned victory.
Next, team spirit gets Faceless Void, who is BADLY hard to kill and who is very good against Void Spirit because of his time action and dome. But first of all, having a very light line – due to its jump, the void is absolutely not concerned about the connection between the shred battery and the shield, and not allowing the OG line to collapse is very important simply due to the aggressiveness of their peak, which I already mentioned.
So, in my opinion, the drafts turned out to be quite equal – Spirits need to survive the pressure in the early game and go into the late game, where it is almost impossible to lose, while OG needs to crush the enemy – well, how the confrontation of polarly different tactics of playing the game went is another story.
